FAQs for IELTS
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is the world’s most popular English language proficiency test for higher education and global migration.
The IELTS test fully tests all 4 skills corresponding to the 4 sections: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing.
IELTS test format explained
Test takers who understand the format of IELTS are at an advantage. Make sure you’re familiar with how IELTS testing works.
There are two IELTS tests available, IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training. Both tests are graded in exactly the same way.
You’ll take the first three parts of the test on the same day, in the following order: Listening, Reading and Writing (there are no breaks between these tests). Your Speaking test will be held either on the same day or seven days before or after that, depending on local arrangements.
Listening: four parts, 30 minutes for listening and 10 minutes for transferring answers to the answer sheet.
Reading: four passages with 40 questions within 60 minutes. No time for transferring answers to the answer sheet.
Writing: 60 minutes with two tasks. (at least 150 words for task 1 and at least 250 words for task 2)
Speaking: 11-14 minutes with three parts.

Yes and No.
Yes! Because the test is designed to test four full skills of using English. The lexis includes a wide range of scientific topics with an academic style. The bandscore descriptors also indicate that there are a lot of requirements for this test.
No! If you have a professional instructor or IELTS teacher who can support you effectively. Therefore, register in a prestigious english center or find an experienced tutor can be an optimal choice.
At first, learners should focus on revising for the basic knowledge about English, which is pronunciation, basic grammatical points, and accumulating the amount of vocabulary. Additionally, learners should pay attention to practice flexibility in speaking and writing.
Eventually, students with a solid foundation can defeat IELTS easily.
Two main ways to choose. The first way is that you can go to the British Council – British Council or IDP – Australian education organization to fill out the registration form or visit the IELTS centers are the official partners of the two organizations above. In addition, you can also register online and transfer at home.
You can search for more information about these two types of test on some reliable website.
The main point is that Paper-based Test result will be announced after 13 working days as usual, but for the Computer-based test, the time for certificate is shortened to 7 days.
There are always certain differences and disparities between the two kinds of certificates, because IELTS and TOEIC are 2 completely different tests used to assess the ability to use English in 4 skills of Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. As an international certification, TOIEC and IELTS are valid for only 2 years (even 4 full skills now). Despite differences, we can still convert these two certificates relatively.
